VFCore UC — Urinary & Calming Supplement for Cats
Feline Idiopathic Cystitis is one of the most painful and frustrating conditions cat parents face. The cat strains in the litter box, urinates outside it, cries out in pain, may show blood in the urine, and visits the vet repeatedly — only to be told there's no infection, no stones, no obvious cause. The diagnosis is "idiopathic," meaning unknown — but the science is now clear: FIC is fundamentally a stress disorder. Cats with FIC have been shown to have abnormal stress management, increased neural sensitivity, and heightened pain perception in the bladder. Stress triggers a flare-up; the flare-up causes more stress; the cycle continues. This is why traditional UTI treatments often fail — they don't address the stress that's driving the disease.
VFCore UC is built specifically to break this cycle, attacking both the stress and the damaged bladder simultaneously.
The calming side of the formula uses three different natural actives that work through three different neurochemical pathways — covering the full range of feline stress biology.
Q-Casozepine (Alpha-Casozepine) 30mg is a milk-derived bioactive peptide that acts on GABA receptors in the brain. GABA is the body's primary calming neurotransmitter, and casozepine binding reduces excessive nervous transmission and regulates anxiety. A randomised placebo-controlled trial (Schroers et al, Veterinary Journal, 2024) showed casozepine treatment significantly reduced stress scores compared to placebo after just 2 days at 7.5–30 mg/kg.
L-Theanine 125mg is the calming amino acid found naturally in green tea. It works by reducing the binding of glutamine to glutamate receptors — meaning it dampens the over-activation of excitatory neural circuits that drive anxiety. Unlike sedatives, L-theanine doesn't make cats sleepy or sluggish; it produces a calm, alert state.
L-Tryptophan 25mg is the precursor to serotonin, the neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep-wake cycles, emotional balance, and food behaviour. Behavioural studies at Tufts using 10 mg/kg of tryptophan twice daily showed measurable improvements in stress-related behaviour.
The bladder side of the formula addresses the physical damage caused by FIC. Glucosamine 62.5mg is the precursor to glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) — the protective layer that lines the bladder wall, prevents irritants in urine from contacting the underlying tissue, and prevents inflammation. In FIC, this GAG layer is damaged, leaving the bladder lining exposed and hypersensitive. Glucosamine supplementation supports rebuilding of this protective barrier.
Cranberry Extract 50mg prevents bacterial adhesion to the bladder wall. While FIC itself is not bacterial, FIC cats are at increased risk of secondary UTIs due to disrupted urinary flow and inflammation. Cranberry's proanthocyanidins block E. coli and other uropathogens from attaching to the urothelium.
The formula is rounded out with Melofeed SOD 5mg for antioxidant bladder protection, Vitamin B1 25mg to support nervous system function, Vitamin D, and Folic Acid.
The lickable paste format is essential for a cat-specific stress supplement. Pilling a stressed cat creates more stress — defeating the purpose of the supplement. The salmon-tuna paste base means most cats accept it readily, often as a lick treat from a finger or plate. This compliance is what makes daily prevention realistic.
VFCore UC is appropriate for active FIC episodes, recurrent FLUTD where bladder wall repair is needed, stress-related behaviours like over-grooming, hiding, aggression, or inappropriate elimination, multi-cat households where inter-cat tension is a major FIC trigger, and any predictable stressful event — moving house, new baby, new pet, fireworks, vet visits, boarding. For known stressful events, start VFCore UC 3–5 days before for the best preventive effect.
Research (Naarden et al) suggests a potential reduction of up to 50% in recurrent FIC cases with appropriate supplementation. VFCore UC translates that science into a single daily lickable sachet.

Or as recommended by your veterinarian.
Recommended use periods:
- Active FIC episode: full dose throughout flare-up + 2 weeks after symptom resolution

Quick Improvements You’ll Notice
You'll start to notice the difference within 2–3 weeks. Most pet parents report the first change is digestion — firmer stools, less bloating, no more post-meal discomfort. By week 3–4, the coat visibly improves: less shedding, more shine. The Ashwagandha tends to show up in calmer behaviour in nervous or hyperactive dogs. And the energy difference — that one speaks for itself.
